I am
I’ve had the unique opportunity to serve on the inaugural cohorts of the Diversity Advisory Councils formed by ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in both the United States and the United Kingdom (Newsquest). These councils were created to help ensure employee voices are amplified, important topics remain on our corporate agenda, and that meaningful action is taken.
The councils have helped make sure our corporate holiday and observance calendars are inclusive, provide collaborative feedback in the creation of resources for our inclusion training library, and engage regularly with business units to help teams consider initiatives through the lens of inclusion, diversity, and equity. We’ve also created and supported internal campaigns to help us better understand and measure our progress to achieve workforce representation and a culture of belonging.
Transformation does not happen overnight, and the responsibility does not belong to only one person. It requires everyone to lead from where they are and be change agents; inspiring and supporting others until transformation is realized.
What Global Diversity month means to me…
I enjoy the work of helping ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ create a culture of belonging for all its employees from the United States to the United Kingdom and Australia to India. To me, Global Diversity Month offers a dedicated time during the year, a reminder, to reflect and appreciate the impact a diverse team can have within a company and ultimately how that company can impact the external community. We have this moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished, understand where we are currently, and the areas where we still need to make progress.Ìý
